Just a follow-up from here. This is the alphabet in Braille, taped to my computer screen, made using the slate I pulled out of the recycling with a random embossing tool floating about in a tool-drawer (picked up for $0.25 when my favorite paper store went out of business midway through last year). Both slate and this piece have since migrated to my brother who’d already been teaching himself Braille, hampered mostly by his lack of texts. Now he can be both audience and creator!
Isn’t it pretty, though? This is on cardstock, remnant bits from a wholesale printing order earlier this year. I did a few sentences/phrases for friends and am contemplating a few others, now that I have an indebted loved one with the appropriate tools who I’m sure is eager to practice his skills… I’ve long wanted to do a tonal business card, where the text/graphics are either embossed or in a gloss on a matte, and this makes me happy in the same way that thinking of those does.
